10 Tips to Get Rid of Tan Naturally

1.  Mix together honey and lemon juice in equal quantities and apply it all over your face and neck. Leave it for 20 minutes, and then wash it off with cold water and pat dry. Lemon is natural bleach and contains citric acid which can be used to effectively treat tan, while honey will keep the skin moisturised and supple. You can also apply lemon juice directly on the affected areas.

2.  Exfoliation is one of the best ways to get rid of tan and get a natural glow. Nothing works better than a natural, homemade exfoliant. Prepare a face pack using oats and buttermilk. Rub this mixture on the affected areas. Oats have skin soothing properties and work as an effective exfoliant to cleanse the pores. You can also mix olive oil and sugar to make an effective tan removal exfoliant.

3.  Mix one tablespoon of sandalwood powder with milk or almond oil to form a smooth paste. Apply it on the skin and let it stay for 20 minutes. Wash it off with cold water and pat dry. Sandalwood removes the dead skin and reduces tan effectively.

4.  Gram flour works amazingly to treat sun tan by removing dead cells and leaves the skin looking youthful and bright. Make a face pack using gram flour (besan), juice of half a lemon and 1 teaspoon of curd. Apply this pack on your face and neck to reduce the sunburn.

5.  Applying coconut water on the affected areas can also reduce tanning. Soak a cotton ball in fresh coconut water and dab it on your face using gentle strokes, so that it penetrates deeply into the skin pores. Leave it for 20 minutes and then wash it off. This will not just reduce the tan, but will also make the skin soft, supple and blemish free.

6.  Aloe vera is one of the best natural treatments to treat sun tan. Apply aloe vera gel on the tanned spots everyday and leave it for half an hour. It can treat even the darkest of tans, if used regularly. But do not apply aloe vera gel while going out in the sun, as it has the property of making the skin photosynthetic. It can even darken your skin if you step out of the house without applying sunscreen.

7.  Grind raw potato to a fine paste and add some drops of lemon juice. Apply this pack on the tanned areas and let it stay for 20 minutes. Both potato and lemon are natural bleaching agents and are very effective in treating tanned and dark skin.

8.  Fuller’s earth, also known as multani mitti, is very effective in treating sun tan. Mix fuller’s earth with tomato juice to make a fine paste. Apply it on the affected areas and let it dry. Wash it off to get a tan free and oil free skin.

9.  Cucumber juice also helps to reduce sun tan effectively. The cooling property soothes the skin and minimizes skin rashes. Vitamin C and A in cucumber also keeps the skin well-moisturised. Mix two tablespoon of cucumber juice with 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Mix it well and apply it on the face using a cotton ball. Leave it for 20 minutes and then wash it off.

10.  Yogurt is very effective in minimising sun tan and reducing redness of the skin. Add a pinch of turmeric to yoghurt to make a fine paste. Apply this face pack daily and leave it for 20 minutes. See the difference for yourself.
