These results were seen among 11.000 children in Britain born from 2000 to 2002. The emotional and development problems were more common in the children of mothers who had drunk heavily during their pregnancy.

It is already a well known fact that drinking alcohol during pregnancy causes harm to pregnancy, like miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, or even lifelong damage.
During the study, when the children had reached their age of 5 the researches interviewed them at home in order to understand their development.

According to the interview, their mothers were classified as follows for their alcohol intake. 5.9 percent had never drunk.

The rest reported 60 % did not drink during pregnancy, less than 25 % were light drinkers but drinking only one up to two alcoholic drinks in occasion. 5 % were moderate drinkers, and about 2.5 % were heavy drinkers by drinking seven or more drinks in occasion

“Children whose mothers reported drinking low levels of alcohol were not at increased risk of difficulties at age five.”
Anyway this information should not lead mothers- to be, in bad decisions for them and their children’s health, because drinking moderately and heavy could bring serious problem in your child’s behavioral and intellectual development.
