Fibers are components of vegetable origin food that the stomach does not digest or absorb them. Are classified into two basic types: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fiber increases the volume of bowel and prevent constipation. Vegetables, wheat bran with whole altecereale are sources of insoluble fiber.
Soluble fiber normalizes cholesterol and blood sugar. Oats, dried beans and some fruits, like apples and oranges are good sources of soluble fiber.

Women need more than 25 grams a day and men 30 to 38 grams of fiber per day.
