Fibers help prevent hemorrhoids by softening the stools that can be removed more easily. Whole or unprocessed foods high in fiber are recommended to prevent hemorrhoids; the best are the fruits and vegetables.

- Fresh fruit – apples, figs, rhubarb, berries, plums, raisins, grapes are good sources of natural fibers
- Fresh vegetables – potatoes, beets, carrots, parsnips, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, corn, peas are other sources of healthy fiber
- Whole grains – oats, brown rice, barley, wheat germ, bran, unprocessed cereals for breakfast
- Various varieties of beans and peas.

There are various food products that can be mixed so that during the day it won’t be difficult to eat the same food twice thanks to its various ways of preparation. You can enjoy healthy meals at the same time, balanced and high in fiber.

3. Foods low in fiber – to avoid

Many of the foods eaten every day contain many calories, they taste good but have a very low nutritional value. Worse, some can encourage constipation. It is recommended to avoid:

- alcohol
- coffee
- tea
- cheese and skim milk (for some people)
- nuts
- fried foods
- ice
- sweets and refined sugars
- white flour and foods containing white flour (including white bread, cookies, etc.).
- processed foods
- soda
- iron supplements
- some antidepressants
- some painkillers
- some antacids

Equally important is to avoid chili. It was found that people who consume large amounts of chili suffer from burning sensation in the rectum or anus. It is better to avoid chili if you have hemorrhoids. It stimulates blood circulation and heal ulcers, but excess creates problems for the entire body.

- Juices – Some juices have a positive effect on hemorrhoids, but the strongest is the black berry juice mixed with equal parts of apple juice.

- The fruits that you can use for juice include cherries, blackberries and blueberries. They contain anthocyanins and proantocianide that reduce pain and swelling of hemorrhoids and help tone the hemorrhoidal veins. Drink at least one glass of juice of these fruits every day.

- Melons – Melons are some of the best foods you can eat. These are a good source of vitamins and minerals. Melons have high levels of beta-carotene and have anticoagulant properties.

- Red berries and black berries – blueberries are rich in vitamin C, vitamin P and minerals and contain a small amount of fatty acid GLA, which produce prostaglandin that control pain. Juice from it is recommended to treat hemorrhoids, liver and blood cleaning, keeping a healthy colon, rectum and anus. Drink 1-2 glasses of juice each day.

- Pomegranates – Pomegranate juice can be hard to find, but is quite useful in relieving hemorrhoid symptoms, thanks to sharp astringent qualities. Soak a cotton swab in pomegranate juice and push it gently into the rectum, to relieve swelling of hemorrhoids. If you have pinworms, the tannins in pomegranate juice will help get rid of them. Pomegranate juice is slightly acidic and pretty tasteful, but it is difficult to drink more than one glass without bother your stomach.

- Oranges and bananas – Eat 2-3 oranges and 2 bananas every day. Oranges contain vitamin C, bioflavonoids and fiber. Quench two bananas with the skin on until they become soft. Eat two in the morning and two in the evening.

- Papaya – is an excellent fruit with a high content of minerals, fiber and enzymes necessary to digest protein.

These fruits and juices can have positive effects on hemorrhoids. By adding more fruits and vegetables in your meals you will supplement fiber intake and you will be able to keep under control the pain and inflammation caused by hemorrhoids.

5. Lifestyle changes to prevent hemorrhoids

Dietary changes are crucial to treat hemorrhoids at home, but not enough. Normal functioning of the digestive tract may require the following changes in your life style:

- Regular exercise in fighting constipation. The physical activity will move food quickly through the digestive tract. Prolonged standing decreases muscle tone, while inadequate posture could put enormous pressure on the rectal veins.

- Good hygiene practices. To cure hemorrhoids or to prevent their aggravation, avoid cleaning the anal area too often. Cleanliness will not accelerate hemorrhoids healing.

- Training intestines. The body must develop internal rate of disposal of feces. It is recommended to stay within 10 minutes after the same meal each day to the bathroom, trying to form the habit of removing the stool. Any time of day is suitable for this purpose.

- Learn to lift heavy objects properly. Incorrect lifting of heavy objects on the ground can affect the back and the bowel movements will be painful. The correct way is to lift heavy objects by bending the knees.
