Hand Washing: Most Convenient Way of Disease Prevention

With the growing numbers of diseases which are identified by the health care providers to actually affect the general population; it is a must that the public must be aware of some strategies and methodologies on how to protect themselves from the development and initiation of certain diseases by preventing the spread and acquisition of the microorganism causing diseases. In fact, are already many ways which are identified by the experts how to prevent diseases, however, some of these strategies which are relayed to the general public are not that easy to adapt and easy to perform, or some of which necessitates the use of chemicals which are indeed expensive. More so, there are other convenient and cost-effective ways of preventing the spread of microorganisms.

In fact, according to experts, the use of hand washing as a technique in haltering the spread of diseases is one of the most effective and yet easy to perform technique. But, experts remind the general public that it should not be just hand washing, rather it should be proper hand washing which should include guidelines and steps to follow to ensure that the hands will be free on some microorganisms that can cause certain diseases. As according to the experts from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hand washing can only help in preventing the spread of microorganisms if it was done properly.

It is known that the hands is the most usual avenue of transferring and hence, spreading microorganisms from one individual to another. This is because the hand is used for many activities in which a single touch to any surface which are not considered sterile can actually harbor the hands with many microorganisms unseen by the naked eye.

Here are some of the critical steps in which the general public must follow when they are performing hand washing: 1) place the hands under the running and clean water instead of using water in the pale, 2) after wetting the hands, use soap and rub in between hands until soap suds appear, 3) scrub the soap on every surface of the hands for at least 20 seconds, 4) and rinse hands under the running water and dry the hands using a clean towel.

Moreover, there are certain instances in which hand washing is indeed necessary aside from the fact that the person is already seeing his hands as obviously dirty, these instances include before and after eating, and before and after going into the bathroom.
