Is A Lymph Node Cancer Possible?

When our body is invaded by bacteria and viruses, the immune system is at the front line, especially when the infection reaches our bloodstream. As we all know, the immune system consists of different body parts and components. Among these compositions of the immune system, the lymphatic system is one of the most priceless. The lymphatic system is composed of the lymphatic vessels, lymphatic fluids and lymph nodes.

Lymph nodes are those which we usually palpate on our neck, armpits and groin area. When we contract some conditions, most especially inflammatory or infectious conditions, these lymph nodes become inflamed and swollen. Ironic as it is, even this frontline in keeping diseases at bay can also be “diseased” itself. One of the diseases which can infest lymph nodes is lymph node cancer or what we usually call “lymphoma”.

What Is Lymphoma?

Lymphoma or lymph nodes cancer, like any other form of cancer is due to the abnormal growth and multiplication of cells. Lymph nodes cancer can be life threatening when undiagnosed at an early stage and when unmanaged.

Lymphoma has two main types—the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and the Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The latter is the more common form of lymphoma and has the tendency to run in the family. The former is a rare form of lymphoma which may occur due to genetic mutations.

Lymph Nodes Cancer Causes

Like other forms of cancer, the exact cause of lymph nodes cancer is UNKNOWN still; however, latest researches suggest that genetics and heredity are the main causative risks. Next to genetic mutation, environmental factors also take a lion’s share in the causative factors or risks of developing lymph nodes cancer, i.e. exposure to toxic chemicals, radiation, etc.

Lymph Nodes Cancer Signs and Symptoms

-          Swelling of lymph nodes in various parts of the body.

-          Painful and tender lymph nodes.

-          Loss of appetite, indigestion, nausea and vomiting, problem with bowel movement, and unexplained weight loss

-          Seizures, cognitive difficulties (once the cancer reaches the brain), etc.

Lymph Nodes Cancer Diagnosis

A biopsy of the lymph nodes will be performed. The presence of abnormal cells in the biopsy is a definitive diagnosis of a lymphoma. However, in order to distinguish the type of lymphoma, the presence of “Reed-Sternberg” cells need to be identified (present in Hodgkin’s Lymphoma).

Also, performing blood tests, MRI and CT-scan can help identify the areas where lymph nodes cancer is present.

Lymph Nodes Cancer Treatment

In the early stages of treatment, medications are very important. Anti-cancer medications are given in an attempt to lessen the size and extent of the cancer to your lymph nodes. Radiation therapy may also be performed to directly treat the area where cancer is present. Lastly, the ultimate resort to treating lymph nodes cancer, like any other form of cancer is through ablative therapy or surgical removal of the diseased area in order to prevent its further spread to other body parts.

Life is a gift, and very good gift. illness that is not checked or treated in time can go bigger, doctors are human like us,we need to tell them the whole truth i mean history of how the illness started and for how long and what medications you have used before, and dont lie to your doctor…. Ok now and not a doctor to i can tell one or two that can help u. Then mind is a key to your healing try and put your mind connection to health parts like reading your bible,or thinking possitive and taking possitive all the time dont see the illeness, see your healing the mind will bring to you…. Jesus is a healer read the bible about him and believe believe! Keep believing and dont stop…. U will be healed.
