Proteins are essential to human life. Skin, bones, muscles and internal organs tissue contain proteins, as well as blood, hormones and enzymes. Proteins are found in many foods of vegetable origin. Also come from animal sources. The richest sources of protein are vegetables, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy products, nuts and seeds.

Recommendations:
Proteins may constitute between 10 and 35% of total daily calories, at least 46 grams for women and 56 grams for men.
