Weight Loss Diet after giving Birth

Although childbirth is a wonderful experience, all women want to regain their pre-pregnancy weight as soon as possible. The best way to do this is finding a balance between baby care and body care.

The biggest problem women are facing after birth is lack of time. Between feedings, changing diapers and trying to rest a few hours, women hardly find time for moderate exercise. But weight is determined only by two factors: sports and diet (for people not suffering from any disease). It is therefore important that you spend at least an hour a day doing sport. Considering that recent months have been inactive, you first-few exercise sessions must be light.

The second essential ingredient in weight loss is diet. If your pregnancy let you eat anything, this is no longer valid after birth. Some mothers continue to “nibble” between meals and are gaining more and more weight because of this. The key to success is to adopt a healthy diet: give up food without nutritional value and eat more fruits and vegetables. They will give you back the energy you had before. Hydration also plays a critical role, especially in skin renewal.

Tips for losing weight after birth:

1. Drink at least 10 – 12 glasses of water a day. Skip the sugary drinks in favor of water. You can add some lemon to your water if you like. This is an easy way to cut hundreds of calories per day.
2. Take healthy snacks – grapes, walnuts, carrots, cereals
3. Choose lean meat varieties
4. Eat whole grains
5. Resist the temptation to buy fast food products
6. As soon as you feel able, start doing some sports.
7. Experience new easy ways to increase physical activity – park your car a little further from the supermarket, climb stairs instead of taking the elevator etc.
8. Breastfeed! Breastfeeding burns 500 calories per day, so the longer you breastfeed, the more calories you burn
9. Avoid drastic diets, you can put your health at risk and it certainly will not work
10. Give your body time to recover. Most mothers reach the weight they had before after 8 to 12 months. Remember that these extra pounds have appeared in a period of 9 months and you have to pay you as much time to get rid of them.
